Quick answers

Is it free to look? Yes. Tap any point on the map or search a plano or finca number and you get the pin, the basic info and a land score, with no account. Sample data is always labelled as sample.

What does it cost? Your first property is free (the Check level, online only). Prices for the plans when we open: Check $199, Field pack $299, Everything $399. Upgrading a property later costs only the difference.

Do I have to pay? Not right now: LandIQ is in test beta and nothing is charged. Your first property is free, and you can request access to the other plans.

I can't find my plano catastro. Tap your land on the map and we'll pull the registered boundary and print a plano for you. The boundary can also be downloaded for your surveyor or a LiDAR scan (KML, CRTM05 GPS points and GeoJSON on the Everything plan).

Is this legal advice? No. LandIQ is data analysis. Always confirm with a Costa Rican attorney and a licensed topographer before any transaction.

Glossary — the Costa Rican terms you will see

Finca: The registered property number at the Registro Nacional (the national property registry). Printed on a title as province digit + number, e.g. 5-061887 (5 = Guanacaste). A finca can be made of several separate polygons on the map.
Plano catastrado: The surveyed, registered plan of a property — its boundary, area and coordinates, signed by a licensed surveyor. Numbered like G-962207-2004. The plano is the legal figure for a property's area.
Catastro / cadastre: The national map of property boundaries. LandIQ reads it live from the government's cadastral service; when that service is down we tell you.
SIRI / SNIT: SIRI is the Registro Nacional's property information system; SNIT is the national territorial information system that publishes the cadastral map layers.
Uso de suelo: A municipal land-use certificate saying what you may build or do on a parcel. You usually need it before permits.
SETENA: The national environmental authority; larger projects need its environmental viability approval.
SINAC: The national protected-areas system — parks, reserves and conservation zones that can restrict development.
SINPE Móvil: Costa Rica's instant mobile bank-transfer service, commonly used to pay people and small businesses.
ICE, AyA, ASADA: ICE is the national electricity utility; AyA and local ASADAs supply drinking water — a parcel's access to each is a key buying check.
