What LandIQ CR does
LandIQ CR pulls together 64 live Costa Rican government and satellite data sources — the SIRI cadastral registry, terrain, climate, seismic risk, soil, land cover, protected areas, and infrastructure — into one place, then distills it into a score for any parcel in the country.
Three ways to find a parcel
1. Click the map
Open the map and click anywhere in Costa Rica. If the point falls inside a registered SIRI parcel, you'll land on that parcel's page with a pin, basic info, and a score. If it doesn't, you still get a pin and whatever general terrain/climate data is available for that location.
2. Search a plano or finca number
Type a plano catastrado number (e.g. SJ-1234567-2024) or a finca number into the search bar on the home page or the map, and it goes straight to that parcel.
3. Upload an old plano document
The Plano Tool reads a photo, scan, or PDF of an existing plano catastrado with AI, confirms it against the real SIRI registry, and takes you to the same parcel page. See the Plano Tool section below for how this is priced.
What's free vs. what needs an account
Anyone can search and see a parcel's pin, basic stats (area, elevation, slope), and general land score with no account. You get 3 free parcel look-ups; after that, viewing a new parcel asks you to register (free — just an email, no card).
Once you have a free account, you additionally unlock:
- The full climate, terrain, seismic, land cover, and infrastructure data for a parcel
- The per-sector score breakdown (Solar, Agricultural, Development, Conservation — not just General)
- Saving parcels to your Workspace
- The AI Checklist and Ask AI tabs (see below — these also need account approval)
- The Plano Tool and coordinate exports (these run on a shared credit balance — see below)
Understanding your score
Every parcel gets an overall General score (0-100, graded Excellent/Good/Fair/Poor), built from six weighted signals: terrain, climate, soil, risk (seismic/hazards), infrastructure access, and land cover. Registered accounts also see four sector-specific scores — Solar, Agricultural, Development, and Conservation — each weighting those same signals differently for that use case.
AI Checklist & Ask AI
Two tabs on the parcel page use AI: the Checklist generates a due-diligence list from the parcel's real data, and Ask AI lets you ask free-form questions about it. Both require a signed-in, approved account — new accounts start pending until LandIQ CR approves them (see the Admin Guide), and both are rate-limited per account to keep AI costs sane.
The Plano Tool & credits
The Plano Tool does two things, both requiring a signed-in account:
- Upload Existing Plano — AI reads a photo/scan/PDF of an old plano, confirms it against the SIRI registry, and (if found) automatically saves it to your Workspace.
- Generate New Plano — search any registered parcel and produce a clean new reference document from live registry data, no old document required.
Both actions — and exporting a parcel's coordinates (see below) — draw from one shared credit balance:
- Every new account starts with 6 free credits (3 actions)
- Every action costs 2 credits
- Once you run out, request more — pick an amount, pay by SINPE Móvil, Bitcoin, or cash, and LandIQ CR tops up your account once payment is confirmed (this is a manual, beta-stage process, not instant card checkout)
Exporting parcel data
The Export tab on any parcel page offers GeoJSON, KML (Google Earth), and CSV downloads of that parcel's boundary coordinates, each costing 2 credits from the same balance as the Plano Tool. A sample snippet is always visible so you can see the format before spending a credit. PDF export isn't available in the free portal yet — buy a report for a print-ready PDF today.
Getting a full report
Report tiers — Quick Check ($99), Full Report ($299), and Pro Due Diligence ($799) — unlock a permanent, interactive report you can print to PDF, including (Full/Pro) the AI due-diligence checklist and an AI-generated buyer's guide. During early access, reports work free once you're logged in; check the sample report to see exactly what's included at each tier before deciding.
Workspace & Alerts
Workspace lists parcels you've saved and reports you've purchased, tied to your account so they follow you across devices. Alerts lets you watch a specific parcel.
FAQ
Do I need to pay to just look around? No — searching, clicking the map, and seeing a parcel's basic info and general score are free, no account, for your first 3 parcels.
What's the difference between "register" and "credits"? Registering (free) unlocks seeing full data and saving parcels. Credits are a separate balance specifically for the Plano Tool and coordinate exports — you get some free, then request more.
Why does my account say "pending approval"? New accounts are approved individually before AI features (Checklist, Ask AI) unlock — this is a manual step on LandIQ CR's side. Search, scores, Workspace, and the Plano Tool don't need approval, only the AI tabs do.
